This is an original 7" x 5" encaustic piece which incorporates pan pastels and a toner transfer. It is part of the Villers-Marmery village in France, I once drove through.
Encaustic paintings are created using a mixture of beeswax, oil paint and damar varnish. This "paint" is heated, brushed onto a board and fused with a torch, layer by layer. The wax creates a lustrous surface unique to encaustic pieces.
